Who’s in Vinyl Groove

Chuck—Keyboards, Vocals

Chuck grew up in western Massachusetts beginning piano at an early age. He studied at the Springfield Conservatory of Music from elementary school through high school, meeting a guitarist during middle school that got him hooked on R&B. He began to learn guitar with him, and formed a band during high school where he played both keyboards and guitar.

After college in his early 20’s he hooked up with one of his high school music buddies and decided to give music a go. A seven person band was formed and for two years played R&B in the Baltimore/Washington area. For keyboards, Chuck used a Wurlitzer electric piano and an old Moog synthesizer. The band was didn’t make much money but what great memories!

Forgoing the music scene, Chuck got married, took a job in the corporate world, and raised two boys. During this time, he moved to the Chicago area continuing to play both piano and guitar as the boys grew. Just before the youngest graduated high school, Chuck was asked to relocate to Connecticut. He temporarily came alone and got the itch to play again. Without telling his wife, he went out and bought a new keyboard (a Yamaha Motif ES 88) and went out to find some people to play with!

Fate came upon Chuck as he was introduced to Peter and Debbie to play bass guitar for a gig at short notice. It was here that his abilities on keyboards and vocals became apparent making him a permanent fixture in Vinyl Groove.
